NNPC DONATES MRI TO NAUTH

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of NAUTH, Prof Joseph Ugbaja in the company of The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Bond Anyaehie, commissioned the newly NNPC donated 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system in the Radiology Department of the hospital's permanent Site at Akamili-Nnewi.

College of Health Sciences Facility Tour by the Vice Chancelleor

The Vice Chancellor further toured the College of Health Sciences (CHS) facilities at NAUTH Nnewi's Old site.

He also had an interactive session with the Faculty of Medicine students. The events took place on the 15th of May, 2026.

Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition

Dr Jacinta Chinyere ELO-ILO (Nee ULOGU) is an associate Professor of Paediatrics at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and Consultant Paediatrician at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Nigeria.

She was one of the pioneer medical students (2nd set) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka then Anambra State University of Science and Technology (ASUTECH). She graduated in February 1996 as the overall best graduating Medical student with distinctions in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

She is a fellow of the West African college of Physicians and a member of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. Has a Masters degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Imo state University Owerri and a Postgraduate Certificate in Paediatric Nutrition from Boston University School of Medicine.

She has many peer reviewed articles in both international and local journals and has presented many conference papers. Her research interest is in Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. She has a special interest in the management of Sever Acute Malnutrition (SAM) using locally available foods to tackle both the macronutrient and micro nutrient deficiencies.

National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria Reaccreditation Team with Members of the Paediatric Department

The department of Paediatrics hosted the reaccreditation team of the NPMCN on the 2nd and 3rd of February.

The team which was ably led by the Chairman, Prof A Ikefuna, had on its team, the secretary of NPMCN, Dr A. Ubesie and the Chief Examiner from UBTH Prof O Ibadin.

The exercise was successful and the reaccreditation impressed with the departmental growth.

MWAN Anambra state, ably led by a seasoned paediatrician and Senior Lecturer of Paediatrics Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Dr Chinyere Ukamaka Onubuogu, marked the World Cancer Day on 5th February, in style, with a road walk and other public enlightenment programs through radio talk at Authority FM Nnewi, market outreach and social media campaigns.

Other academic members of the department of Paediatrics participated actively with Dr Chioma Mbachu leading the duo that educated the public via an hour long phone-in radio program on different types of cancer, and Dr Ogo Ofiaeli gave a talk on cervical cancer.
