About the Department

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is one of the core clinical departments of the Faculty of Medicine, providing undergraduate training in the Fourth Professional (4th MBBS) Examination as well as postgraduate residency training accredited by the West African College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.

Academic and Research Strengths

The Department maintains one of the largest academic staffs in the Faculty, with 24 members spanning professorial, reader, senior lecturer and lecturer grades. Research is conducted across all sub-specialties, with faculty members contributing to peer-reviewed national and international journals. The Department holds collaborative links with postgraduate colleges and international obstetrics and gynaecology bodies, and staff regularly serve as external examiners at other Nigerian medical schools.
