Faculty of Medicine to Host Three-Day Hybrid Workshop on Medical Education

The Faculty of Medicine, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nigeria, is set to host a three-day hybrid workshop on medical education from Monday, 22nd to Wednesday, 24th June 2026. The event, themed “Advancing Excellence in Medical Education: Innovative Teaching, Assessment and Curriculum Development for Competency-Based Medical Education,” is designed for medical educators and academic clinicians.

The workshop will be delivered in a hybrid format across three sessions. The first two days (22nd and 23rd June) will be held virtually, running from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., respectively. The concluding session on 24th June will be held physically at the Igwe Orizu ICT Centre, NAUTH Permanent Site, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will feature hands-on training in conducting Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).

The workshop was announced by Professor I. I. Mbachu, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, who extended invitation to Faculty members, senior colleagues, and medical education professionals to participate in the programme.

The initiative reflects a growing institutional commitment and technical re-occurrence to competency-based medical education reform across Nigerian tertiary health institutions.

NNPC DONATES MRI TO NAUTH

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of NAUTH, Prof Joseph Ugbaja in the company of The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Bond Anyaehie, commissioned the newly NNPC donated 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system in the Radiology Department of the hospital's permanent Site at Akamili-Nnewi.

College of Health Sciences Facility Tour by the Vice Chancelleor

The Vice Chancellor further toured the College of Health Sciences (CHS) facilities at NAUTH Nnewi's Old site.

He also had an interactive session with the Faculty of Medicine students. The events took place on the 15th of May, 2026.

This is to inform the College Community that the University Senate at its meeting held on Weds, 26th October, 2022 has directed that the venue for the Matriculation Ceremony for all the Faculties in the College to be at Awka.

To this end, the venue for the Matriculation Ceremony on Friday, 28th October, 2022 for all the Faculties in the College (Medicine, FHST & FBMS) will now hold in front of the Digital Library, Awka).

The time is 10am prompt.
