Alumni of the Faculty of Medicine
A Global Community of Medical Professionals
Since the first graduating class of 1995, the Faculty of Medicine has produced over 2,400 medical doctors who practise and serve in every region of Nigeria and across the globe. Alumni of the Faculty hold positions in clinical medicine, academic surgery, public health, biomedical research, international health agencies and government at the highest levels.
The Faculty's alumni community has maintained active engagement with its alma mater through the donation of textbooks, funding of electronic library subscriptions and internet access, financial contributions to student welfare, and participation in academic events including induction ceremonies, scientific conferences and mentoring programmes.
Alumni Contributions
- Annual donation of the most current editions of 4 core textbooks per department across all 20 MBBS departments, channelled through the alumni community in Canada and other diaspora chapters
- Subscription to international electronic library services including HINARI and RESEARCH FOR LIFE
- Internet access infrastructure (Wi-Fi) upgrades at the Medical Library
- Participation in postgraduate external examinations as visiting examiners
- Career mentoring and sponsorship for current undergraduate students
