About the Department
The Department of Radiology is a fully NUC and MDCN-accredited clinical department within the Faculty of Medicine, providing undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in diagnostic and interventional imaging. The Department serves all clinical departments of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, offering comprehensive diagnostic imaging services that are integral to the management of patients across all medical and surgical specialties.
Training
Undergraduate medical students receive dedicated radiology instruction during the latter years of the clinical programme, including an introductory radiology lecture series and structured clinical postings. Students are trained in the interpretation of plain radiographs, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear medicine imaging, equipping them to apply diagnostic imaging appropriately in clinical practice.
Postgraduate and Specialist Training
The Department is accredited for postgraduate residency training in Radiology, with residents preparing for fellowship examinations of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African College of Surgeons.
